Agreed that it's confusing, but I don't think I'd really want to read the manual on the MMI screen anyway. I keep the manual in the convenient compartment to the left of the steering wheel (LHD S5), and I keep a PDF copy on my phone for easy searching and perusal. Audi doesn't provide a PDF version, but it's available via Google easily enough.
